About the game
Short description
Thirty thousand soldiers. One of them is you. Thousands at War is a medieval battle game for Meta Quest 3 and 3S where you don’t watch the war from above: you stand in it, sword and shield in your own hands, among up to 30,000 animated soldiers.
Full description
Two armies of up to 15,000 men each march, clash and fight to the last, every one of them animated. You draw a real sword from your hip, raise your shield to a blow you saw coming, and cut your way through the line with your own arms. When you want the bigger picture, take to the sky and watch the whole battle unfold beneath you. When you want back in, swoop down, pick any soldier on your side, and become him.
Combat is physical. There are no buttons for attacks: you swing, thrust, block and parry with your real arms, and the weapon in your hand behaves like steel with weight. Enemies wind up their attacks from the left, the right, overhead or with a thrust, and they read your swing too, raising their guard to meet it. Up to three soldiers duel you at once while the rest form a ring and wait their turn.
Custom Battle lets you set up any fight you can imagine: three unit types per side, any army against any other, from ten against ten to a lone squad against 29,000. Six campaigns tell both sides of three wars, from a skirmish of a hundred men to a final battle of 15,000 against 15,000. Rise through 61 ranks from Recruit to Warmaster, unlocking weapons with every promotion.
